This webinar highlights the contributions of the latest issue of Research in Human Development, which advances the concept of vulnerability in life course studies. The authors argue that the concept of vulnerability is well suited to transcending disciplines and seizing complex, systemic, and dynamic processes related to stress and lack of resources in one or more life domains. Empirical examples address gender issues, work-life balance, “misleading norms,” and poverty in old age. The studies stem from the Swiss National Center of Competence in Research LIVES – Overcoming Vulnerability: Life Course Perspectives (NCCR LIVES).
